It is with great disappointment that we are folding *deviousdesigners. It's simply the fact that we've become a clone, a duplicate, of *designerscouch. With most of our submissions also being put up at *designerscouch, we have essentially nothing to offer above and beyond what they can offer.

We hate to see this community die so quickly but there is no other option. As *Solaris07 said:

"I hope *deviousdesigners will be remembered for 1 thing:

Quality: In service and the work that was showcased. We alwalys tried to process submissions ASAP and tried to maintain a standard of quality."

So, we leave you with that and we encourage those of you there are not members of *designerscouch already to check it out. It is an excellent community with a great administrative team. You'll have no regrets submitting your work there.

Featured Deviation Monthly Contests

Masked Marvel and I have decided to start a monthly design contest. Each month we will choose a different design category and will accept all designs for the contest from the particular category of the month. We will put the top 5 or 10 designs, depend on how many are entered, into a poll to be voted on. Based on the results, we will put the winning design up on the Featured Deviation section.
When submitting contest entries please title them, "Contest"

Our first category will be: Web Interfaces

The starting date is today.

Contest deadline will be July 31st.

Polls will be open for a week and after they close we will post up the winning deviation in the featured deviation section.

I want to welcome all the recent members. Thanks for joining us! Also if anyone has ideas or suggestions about Devious Designers feel free to send us a note. I'd also like to ask that when you guys are submitting deviations, please make sure they are in .PNG or .JPG form, it makes it so much easier to update that way.

Ripping

We thought this one was one of those "unspoken" rules that were a constant in the art community, and even moreso in the design community specifically. Let us be clear:

RIPPING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

In any form. Taking someone else's work and passing it off as your own is not allowed and will result in an immediate and permanent expulsion from Devious Designers. We of course will do an investigation to determine the original author but at it's completion, you will be removed from Devious Designers if found guilty of ripping.

The reason that this has been brought up is because of an incident this weekend. We really do not want to have to repeat this again. To anyone. It's an unspoken rule for a reason. You just don't rip, plain and simple.

It's June 2nd, that means its time we post up all the submission for out first contest here at Devious Designers. Even though our deadline for the contest is June 2nd, we'd be inclined to look the other way if entries came in during June 2nd... it's a long day after all. We've got four entries in so far but the more the merrier! And we've had some questions about text and the only text that is required is "Devious Designers" in some form (deviousdesigners, DEVIOUSDESIGNERS, etc etc, space or no space). Other text such as "Member" or "Supporter" isn't required but if you put it in that's fine.
